Canadian Winter Wonderland

My father and I made two trips into Canada this past week. I always enjoy the drive through the Renous highway wilderness although it was a little treacherous during both our trips this time due to blowing snow and ice from the rain we had a few days ago.

The St. John river still has lots of ice chunks from the thaw we had last month. This picture was just taken as we were driving across the bridge and doesn't do it justice. Some of those ice chunks are huge!

Looking out across the frozen bay in Baie-Sainte-Anne, NB. What looks like fog is actually just blowing snow!

Ice covered Tansy by the bay...

I was both surprised and thrilled to see that the ocean was also frozen for as far as we could see! It was almost like being in the arctic! It certainly had changed a lot since the last time we saw it back in November.

And finally, a home scene! We had a bit of a thaw on Thursday with an inch of rain. All the snow came sliding off the back roof, taking the internet wire down with it! There are power lines there too but they were OK, thankfully!

Hope everyone is staying warm! I have felt some warmth from the sun the last few days, so there is hope!! 😊

Wow! I dont know how you all endure the cold that you do. Some states near Canada are 50°~60° below 0. Unthinkable. We will be high 20° here in north central Florida tonight and a little colder tomorrow night. Days are nice, in 50°~60°. But warmer weather coming later this week. Keep warm. V
P.S. Your notify me still isn't working. Can't check the box.

Yes it sounds like the Midwest especially is getting hit hard now with the subzero temperatures. And until now they were having such a mild winter! It is cold enough here, but thankfully we aren't getting anything too extreme. But cold is relative and I imagine high 20s feels really cold for FL!

Boy, that looks SO COLD! You know it is when the sea freezes. Bless your optimism! I'm worried about the next cold front after today's snow. Winter still has lots in store for us, I think!

It has been cold but nothing really too extreme, compared to what the Midwest is getting now! I'm sure winter does have a lot of surprises for us. We still have a long way to go, but I cherish every little sign of hope I can find. 😊
Hope you are staying warm! We will get some snow tonight and tomorrow as well. We only need about 8 inches more this month to set a new all time record for snowfall in a single month. But it looks like we may miss it by just a couple of inches! 😒

Looks like we both are in a deep freeze these days. I didn't know that the Atlantic ever froze along the New England shore. Maybe you'll have penguins soon.

Well we are in an almost perpetual deep freeze from November to April, but thankfully we haven't had anything as extreme this winter as what you all are getting the last couple days!
I actually don't know if the New England shore freezes like that, but this was in NB. It almost seemed as if we could have seen a penguin at any moment...or better yet - a polar bear! 😁
