Ye Field Flowers! the gardens eclipse you, 'tis true, I went for another hike in the fields last week and found that the Pearly Everlasting's seeds were ready for harvest. I wasn't really expecting that since it wasn't very long ago that I visited and they still seemed a long way off from being ready, so I had nothing with me to collect the seeds in. I'll have to go back out soon and do some serious seed collecting, but in the meantime I did pick this little bouquet. Walking home with it and trying to keep the tiny seeds from blowing everywhere was like walking with a candle on a breezy day! 😁 After the seeds had been collected (or rather caught as they flew everywhere!), the remaining flower bases still looked so nice that I decided to try them in a vase I picked up last Spring. I've been waiting all this time for the perfect flowers to put in it! I don't know whether the vase is Chinese or Japanese, but decided to use the Japanese fan my aunt gave me as a prop for the pictures. Close-up of the "flowers". Looks like there are still some seeds waiting to float around in my bedroom! I just love this little field flower! The vase now occupies the place of honor on my nightstand, and may well stay there all winter! I'm looking forward to seeing what others have picked today at Rambling in the Garden...it's such a beautiful way to start off the week! Have a wonderful day! 😊

Oh my, what a coincidence! Do you mean your GGG Grandfather was actually the poet or that he shared the same name?!

Those seeds sure are tiny! I like the vase, a good find!

They sure are! It doesn't take much to get them blowing around...they just about float in the air anyway!

Thanks. Mine are all still soft! And have those bristle like things all over them! 10/1/2018 11:50:23 pm
Your pearly everlastings are wonderful. I'm not familiar with them; are they wildflowers that commonly grow in the fields? You remind me how special it is to have flowers/seeds that dry well in a vase! Love your styling with the vase and fan as well :)

How fortunate to have such a lovely native growing close by. Do all the plants your raise end up on your own plot or do you share or sell them? I am in the UK, so far away, but am just interested in your love of growing.

I started a small seed business last year, just selling herb and flower seeds from my gardens, and this year I added some wildflowers to my offerings as well. But I do love to exchange seeds as well. 😊
