In a Vase on Monday: A Cup of Joy

At long last, Spring has come to the rugged North, and I have a few flowers to gather and share with you as I join Cathy at Rambling in the Garden for IAVOM! You can see many beautiful flower arrangements from around the world today on her blog.
Picture
The vase is just a little tea cup and saucer given to my sister and me after we gave a concert at an antique store many years ago. I've had my eye on it for several weeks now, eagerly anticipating this moment!

The main ingredient in this arrangement is Glory-of-the-snow. I absolutely love this little flower! There are several small clumps of it in my garden, and they get more beautiful with each year.

The little bits of foliage come from my Valerian plants. They are a very pretty dark red when they first emerge in the Spring.
Picture
The crocuses are just about finished, but there are still a few nice clumps here and there. They haven't been enjoying the heavy rains and wind we've had lately.

I hope you all have a beautiful week in your gardens...it has been a hard winter, but Spring is here at last! :)

Joanna,
I absolutely LOVE this idea to put flowers in a teacup! I think I will do this for an elderly woman we do Bible study with, as well as for my grandma. Thanks for the amazing idea!

What a beautiful vase in the tea cup...delicate early spring flowers for a delicate vase.....these same flowers finally died back here last week when temps went into the 80s and low 90s...very unseasonable but welcome for a short while. Glad spring has finally bloomed for you.

Yes, a few hot days like that will do them in, unfortunately! Some of my tulips faded prematurely last year because we had a high of 90 one day with 30 mph winds! Our temperatures having been bouncing back and forth between hot and cold this month, but that's nothing unusual!

What a delightful cup of spring tea - and you must be so pleased to have finally been able to use it in the way you had planned

The teacup is a beautiful way to display these blooms, Joanna. Isn't it thrilling to have the world abloom again? And the birds singing, too!

Yes it is! Love the birdies, too. I realize once they start singing again just how silent the winter is (other that the howling of the wind, that is!)

Hi Joanna! So glad your spring has finally arrived! Your little cup of spring is wonderful! It looks like the same pattern on your teacup as on my little jug I used for my violets a few weeks ago. Enjoy some spring sunshine and I hope you can get gardening soon! :)

I went back on your blog and found your jug of violets. So pretty and the pattern really is quite similar! :)

A breathe of spring which seems way in the past for me! My crocus flower in February usually. Your images are stunning, I wasn't surprised to read that your hobby was photography; really beautiful.

Yes I was thinking that this post would probably seem like a re-run to most of you! It must be nice to have Spring arrive in February!
I'm glad to liked the pictures too. I have a lot of fun with photography, and flowers are my favorite subjects. :)

I like that Glory-of-the-Snow - the light blue color with a much less pronounced white center. The ones I see here have a darker blue and the white center is very prominent - nice, but not as appealing to me as yours.

Interesting! I wonder if they are a different variety or if it could have something to do with the climate? I think most of mine came from Colorblends but I also have a few from Fedco, and they are the same color.
