We always called balsam "Touch Me Nots" because when you touch the ripe seed pods, seeds flew everywhere.

I've heard them called that, too. The seeds are such fun to collect! We have lots of wild Impatiens capensis in wet areas around the woods and the first time I learned that they are called Touch Me Not I assumed they were poisonous...but turns out they are an excellent remedy for poison ivy!
